Highlights

Investing in the teacher workforce is critical for improving the quality of education and learning across Southeast Asia. Teachers remain one of the most important factors influencing student learning outcomes, yet education systems often fail to adequately recruit, prepare and support teachers to become effective and remain motivated in the profession. Evidence from SEA-PLM 2019 highlights the diversity of the teacher workforce, their classroom conditions, and their level of preparation and training upon entry to the profession.
