Strengthening global cholera testing capacity
Essential tools and guidance for countries using Gavi funding to purchase cholera diagnostics through UNICEF.
Better availability and wider use of cholera diagnostic tests may have a significant positive impact on effectiveness, efficiency and equity of preventive OCV (oral cholera vaccines) campaigns, by helping build an evidence-base of affected areas and trends in cholera transmission.
A global partnership between UNICEF, Gavi, WHO and FIND aims to support a major expansion in global cholera diagnostic capacity, which is necessary to allow more efficient, effective and equitable prevention of cholera morbidity and mortality.
Countries that secured Gavi’s funding support for cholera diagnostic procurement for timely testing and rapid identification of probable cholera cases can access quality-assured cholera diagnostic tests through UNICEF.
To access to cholera diagnostic tests through UNICEF, countries that are eligible for Gavi support under the Surveillance Diagnostics Initiative and that secured Gavi approvals are required to fill in the form below.
