Helping flood-affected children in Malaysia

Heavy seasonal rains has caused massive flooding in the East Coast of Malaysia, displacing tens of thousands in Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Perak and Johor. As flood waters slowly recede, we can see the damage to homes, schools, places of worship, local businesses and roads. Many children and their families have been left with nothing.

UNICEF Malaysia has provided 100,000 packets of high energy biscuits to support children and their families affected by the floods. The biscuits have helped meet the nutritional needs of children, pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers in flood affected areas.

“It’s important that children get the nutrition that they need, even in emergencies,” said UNICEF Representative Wivina Belmonte.

UNICEF Malaysia is also asking members of the public to help by giving blood, donation and supplies, or by volunteering their time. Find out more
