Dr Tao has extensive experience in implementing large-scale, DFID-funded education programmes in Ghana, Tanzania, Nigeria, Uganda, Sierra Leone and India. Her work on systems strengthening, intervention design and policy development within these programmes has been underpinned by her PhD research and engagement with a wide evidence base; as well as her experience in teaching classes of 100+ students in government schools in Tanzania and Rwanda. Sharon’s work as a Gender and Inclusion Adviser has informed the ideas featured within this Think Piece, as well as the Gender and Inclusion Initiative the she spearheads for Cambridge Education. Both aim to provide a robust and comprehensive approach to gender in order to produce meaningful and sustainable change for girls’ education.
